Uses

The gear, tools, and software I use.

Cameras

Canon 60D

This is my primary camera. I got this when I first started to get into photography as the reviews looked good and it was the same camera my now-wife has. It's a solid camera that I'm still learning to use. It's taken most of the shots on my site. Link

Canon Powershoot G1X

I got this camera to use as sort of a middle ground between the Sony point-and-shoot and my DSLR. It's a little more bulky than the sony, but still supports both RAW and the ability for me to play with the aperture, focal length and other settings. It's nice for when I want to go somewhere without having to lug around the DSLR. Link

Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-H55

I picked this up on a whim after graduating college. The digital camera I got early on in college was nice, but was a little bulky. This one could easily be slipped in a pocket. The shots are decent for what it is, but given the improvement of the smart phone cameras, I hardly use it. Link

Lenses

Tamron AF 28-75mm

This is my primary lens. It's a good go-to for me. Link

Canon EF-S 55-250mm (Telephoto)

I ended up getting this as part of the package when I bought my 60D from Best Buy. It's a nice telephoto lens thought I can't say I have much to compare it to. Link

Canon EF-S 10-18mm (Wide-Angle)

Sometimes I want to get more in my shots, and this does a good job with that. Link

Canon EF-S 18-135mm (Kit Lens)

This was the lens that came with my camera. I don't really use it much anymore as I tend to favor the Tamron lens. Link

Software

Affinity Photo

I got this as a photoshop alternative that came with a perpetual license. I haven't used it extensively, but it's been good for the simple edits I've needed it for. Link

ON1 Photo RAW 2024

I've been trying to find a LightRoom replacement for a while having not wanted to continue paying for a subscription. I've had some success with this, although I haven't been in here extensively yet. Link
